Military History Courses

If you want to study military history at the University of North Florida, you are in luck. They offer seminars on World War I, Modern War and the 1950s emphasizing the Korean War.

California State University in Fullerton offers an American Military History course in their fall semesters. They have a big History department, but only one course in military history.

The University of Texas at Tyler has two courses in military history. The first military history course is entitled Early American Military History and is an overview of the United States military history from the colonial period until 1900. There is special focus on the creation of the American military institutions, the origins of policy-making and the influence of the military as social institutions.

The other military history course offered at the University of Texas at Tyler is Modern American Military History. This course is an overview of United States military history from 1900 until today. This course has a specific focus on the relationship between foreign policy and military policy, the conduct of war, and the influence of American society upon the military as social institutions.
